Tips for Maintaining Your Health & Wellness Throughout the Holiday Season

Right now is the most wonderful time of the year! (Or so the saying goes).

In reality, the last few months of the year, can be very stressful and chaotic. While you’re shopping, cooking and going to holiday parties, it’s important to still take care of yourself. I decided to provide you with some tips for the holiday season so that the transition to 2025 is seamless and healthy.

1. IT’S OKAY TO SAY “NO”

Listen, I understand that you don’t want to have FOMO, but you don’t HAVE to go to every party or event. You WILL get burned out, sick, and/or find it hard to get rest/recover. Don’t spread yourself too thin by saying yes to everything. <3

2. CONTINUE TO MEAL PREP

Continue to meal prep your lunches for the week, otherwise all the treats in the break room are going to be very hard to resist. By planning your meals ahead of time, you’re less likely to binge and overeat.

3. PRIORITIZE PROTEIN/FIBER

If you find that your stomach is always grumbling or if you’re crashing midday, you may need more protein and fiber in your diet! You don’t have to count every single calorie or macro, but prioritizing protein and fiber at every meal will keep you satiated throughout the day as well as help maintain your lean muscle mass.

4. STAY ACCOUNTABLE

It’s hard to make it to the gym this time of year. I totally get it! You’re busier than usual and it’s dark/cold outside. Being held accountable will ensure that you stay active during the holiday season. Book sessions with your personal trainer (😃👋), sign up for group exercise classes in advance, go to the gym with a friend, or write in your calendar when you’re going to workout. Make it a NON-NEGOTIABLE and stick to those dates/times.

5. GET ENOUGH SLEEP

I hate to say it, but cold and flu season is upon us. The best way to strengthen your immune system and have more energy is to aim for 8hrs of sleep per night. I know that can be easier said than done. Try turning your phone and TV off 30mins prior to bedtime, and instead, read, meditate, or journal to unwind.

I hope these 5 tips can help you stay healthy these holidays so that you can enjoy lots of love, laughter, and memories.

Talk to you soon,

Natalie
